Sung-Jae Kim
SOUTH KOREA

Sung-Jae Kim, born in 1990 in Gwang-Ju/South Korea, received his first piano lessons at the age of 6. Since 2005 he has been studying at the Frankfurt Musikhochschule, in the class of Prof. Catherine Vickers and completed his Studies Diplom(2012),Konzertexamen(2017) . Currently he studying with Prof. Leonid Margarius at the Imola Piano Academy ”Incontri col Maestro”and Prof. Klaus Kaufmann at University of Music and Dramatic Arts Mozarteum in Salzburg.

He has participated in Masterclasses of Prof. Catherine Vickers, Prof. Andrzej Jasinski, Prof. Klaus Hellwig, Prof. Arie Vardi, Prof. Joan Havill and Prof. Bernd Goetzke.

He is the prize winner of many Piano Competitions, such as 1st Prize at the Ibach Piano Competition in 2004 (in Gwang-Ju/South Korea), 2nd Prize at the H. van Bremen Piano Competition in 2005 (in Dortmund/Germany), 1st Prize at the Thuermer Piano Competition in 2005(in Bochum/Germany), 1st Prize at the Music Prize Leyda Ungerer Foundation Competition in 2007 (in Frankfurt/Germany), 1st Prize at the Jugend musiziert Piano Competition in 2008, 1st Prize at the DAAD Music Competition in 2008 (in Frankfurt/ Germany). 2009 he received Diploma at the International Piano Competition Maria Canals Competition in 2009 (Manchester/England).

2010 he received Diploma at the 16. International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw/Poland.

2013 he was awarded the 2nd Prize at the International Montrond les Bains Piano Competition in Montrond les Bains/France and ”Foerderpreis” from Steinwayhaus Frankfurt.

2017 he was warded the 2nd Prize at the International Chopin Piano Competition in Hannover/Germany.

He has given concerts in Frankfurt/Germany (in the Large Concert Hall of Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts, in Kirche am Campus, in the Bechstein Zentrum) in Kronberg/Germany (in the Malerkolonie/Streitkirche), in Seeheim Jugenheim/Germany (in the Schloss Heiligenberg) and in Korea.

He has performed as a soloist and recorded the Liszt Piano Concerto No.1 with Hochschulorchester Frankfurt under Wojciech Rajski and Rachmaninov Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini with Hessish Youth Symphny Ochestra under Dominik Beykirch.
