Boyi Fa

Boyi Fa, born in China, 1997, is a piano performance major student at New England Conservatory, where he studies with the chair Bruce Brubaker. He was named by the Solan Family Scholarship in New England Conservatory. Shai Wosner praised: “Boyi Fa’s sound production has particular smoothness to it that would normally take most pianists many years to attain and it lends a wonderful quality to his playing that originates in his keen awareness of the inextricable link between the physical and musical aspect of making music.” Also, after listening his playing, Bruce Brubaker said, “Boyi Fa displays remarkable facility and an overwhelming mastery of the piano. His performances are far more than that… He feels music deeply and is able to strongly communicate to audiences his nuanced and intensely emotional reactions to music.”

He has played the piano since he was 4 years old, and he became a piano performance student of affiliated Middle school of Wuhan Conservatory of Music in 2010 studied with Ms. Zi Sang and Mr. Hong Xu. Also, he had acquired some opportunities to study with some famous pianists, such as Shai Wosner, Wha Kyung Byun, Imogen Cooper, Max Levinson, Richard Goode, Douglas Humphreys, Alexander Kobrin, John Perry, Barry Schneider, Stanislav Ioudenitch, Thomas Lehmann Stahl, Thomas Schumacher, Frederic Qiu, etc.

During these years, He has won some awards in the national and international piano competitions, such as the first prize in the 2012 Juvenile Professional Group of Asia International Piano Competition, the first prize of 2013 YAMAHA Grand Piano Prix and the third prize of 2014 National Piano competition, etc. So far he was invited to play a lot of solo concerts and concerto concerts in China and America, such as New York, Boston, Beijing, Wuhan and Changsha, etc. He gave his first public solo recital at Wuhan Concert Hall when he was 12. He cooperated with some orchestras such as China Philharmonic Orchestra and Eastern Symphony Orchestra. Recent and upcoming concerts include performing solo concerts in Los Angeles and Leipzig.
